The model's user manual lists an IP Passthrough option in the Bridge section of Network (Home/Office) that disables the gateway's Wi-Fi and routing, and notes it may be needed to connect a third-party router. Verizon's family article documents the steps.

Model numbers: WNC-CR200A · Type: 5G / LTE home gateway

How to set it up

  1. Open the router admin page and click Advanced.
  2. Go to Network Settings, then Network Connections, then Network (Home/Office), then Settings.
  3. In the Bridge section, tick IP Passthrough and click Save Changes.
  4. Wait one to two minutes for the reboot (solid white LED), then plug your own router into the LAN2 Ethernet port on the bottom of the gateway.

Know before you switch

  • Enabling IP Passthrough turns off all Wi-Fi radios on the gateway; internet access is no longer available over Wi-Fi or the LAN1 port.
  • Passthrough runs on the LAN2 port only.
  • To turn it off, connect a device to LAN1, sign in to the admin UI and untick IP Passthrough.
  • The manual cautions against changing these settings unless Verizon instructs you to.
